A re-programming with Bosch KTS series is currently not possible because of the change in the "Euro 5 Portals for the VW group," and introduction of ODIS in their authorized workshops.

Volkswagen provides access to erWin under the link https://erwin.volkswagen.de. erWin is the Electronic Repair and Workshop Information from Volkswagen AG, both for independent workshops, car fleets and all other companies that repair and service Volkswagen vehicles on a professional basis, as well as for all private persons who wish to repair their Volkswagen vehicle themselves.

The KTS 520 / KTS 550 and KTS 650 cannot be used with vehicles of the VAG-Group (VW, Audi etc.).

The vehicle diagnostics allow you to select between a complete diagnostic system (VAS diagnostic system), which has the advantage that diagnostics can be carried out on all Volkswagen brand vehicles, or the EU-5-VAS diagnostics software via an SAE J2534-compatible interface (diagnostics interface), which allows you to perform offboard diagnostics on vehicles with Euro-5 model approval.

For these applications, users have to register in advance and then log in.

erWin contains:

Additional information such as self-study and training programs.

Electronic repair and workshop information

To use erWin online documents, the user must acquire a flatrate access. Under the "Flatrate" menu, users can acquire unrestricted access to the online Service information for a fixed price. Registration or logging on is not necessary for flatrate booking.

Users can determine the usage period themselves (one hour without printing rights, one day with printing rights, 7 days with printing rights, 30 days with printing rights or 365 days with printing rights). The prices are listed on the web page.

EU-5-VAS diagnostics software

Volkswagen provides the EU-5-VAS diagnostics software for users. With the EU-5-VAS diagnostics software, a program has been made available for the first time that supports an SAE J2534-compatible interface (diagnostics interface). This software makes it possible to diagnose all Volkswagen brand vehicles that have Euro-5 model approval. Under the menu "Diagnostics – step by step", erWin shows the user which steps to carry out:

1.) Check of system requirements.

2.) Log on.

3.) User data management.

4.) Application for company or customer number.

5.) Application for secret and component-protection password.

6.) Ordering of EU-5-VAS diagnostics software.

7.) Application for a license for the EU-5-VAS diagnostics software.

8.) Ordering the SecureIDCard.

When users have carried out all of the above steps, they can install the Basic, Brand and Importer CD, set up their Internet connection and enter the PIN displayed by the SecureIDCard. The EU-5-VAS diagnostics software is now ready for operation.

The range of vehicles and ECUs that can be reprogrammed is defined by Volkswagen. In addition to the Bosch information, the instructions of the vehicle manufacturer must also be observed.
